President Obama Signs Freedom of Press Act
Earlier today, President Obama signed the Daniel Pearl Freedom of Information Act. The act, which was named in honor of the Wall Street Journal reporter who was captured and murdered by extremists, directs the State Department to expand its examination of press freedoms worldwide. In attendance for the signing were Mr. Pearl’s widow Mariane Pearl and son Adam Daniel Pearl. We’re proud that President Obama continues to support worldwide press freedoms and choose to wear his Jorg Gray 6500 to this event.
President Obama’s Supreme Court Pick
President Obama today nominated Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. If nominated, Kagan would be the youngest member of the Court and the third women serving currently, which would represent the highest number of female justices ever.
